what I've been doing?

So I've been doing some research on what I want to do, I've been doing research on 3D generalist jobs,I came across many show reels from various people, and it showed various skills that are involved in being enrolled for this position. It made me think is this a role that I actually want to spend doing for the next 40+ years of my life, which is what I think this assignment is really about and the big question, would I do this job for the rest of my life? I thought about what I enjoyed doing and things I may enjoy doing and it's kind of something that really should be done, I've created a list below of things I like to do what I like about it and aspects I may not like about it, I'll also make a list of things I'd like to try and approach.

Things I enjoy Doing - (in no particular order)

Illustrating - Drawing characters, props and just drawing in general, it's something that I've always enjoyed. character design would be a good job to compliment this skill.

Creating Characters/ Stories - creating characters with various personalities and story lines is something I'm always doing daily.

Character Animation - This is something I enjoy doing, there are tedious aspects to it, but the end result is something I do look forward to and work towards. this includes using quadrupeds and not just animating human characters.

Things I want to Approach -

Digital Painting - is something that has always fascinated me and is a practice I want to try as it could coincide with creating characters and illustrating. (this includes digital matte painting)

Rigging - this generally something people don't like to approach, I did it give it a go in my previous assignment and it was something that I thought was interesting, the mistakes I made really made me realize there is a lot I can learn about the human skeleton.

This really showed me that you have to separate what you enjoy doing from what you can do, I am also able to use fluid dynamics and mental ray among other skills, and they don't bore me in anyway but I couldn't see my self working on that particular aspect for the rest of my career.
